Alan Elborough

Alan Elborough’s experiences and expertise working on the front line delivering housing and homelessness legislation motivated him to set up Settled Housing Solutions Consultancy Service.

During his career in housing he has introduced landlord advisory services, landlord accreditation and letting agent regulation schemes, rent deposit schemes and fast track housing options for vulnerable groups including drug, alcohol and abuse teams and clients fleeing domestic violence.

His engagement techniques and business models have broken down barriers between local authorities and the private rented sector which have resulted in improved joint working between all parties directly involved in private rented sector housing. A number of housing options Alan has successfully developed have been celebrated by both private sector regulatory bodies and Central Government agencies as ‘Best Practice’.

He has combined his housing and homelessness career while also being a successful residential property investor. This has made him very well placed, therefore, to understand and respect the strategic objectives of a housing service and the commercial outcomes and business risk associated with the private rental sector.

If all stakeholders directly involved in PRS engagement pull together to reduce the perceived risks, renting privately can be a sustainable tenure of choice.

Alan has a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from the University of Westminster which he combines with a solid grounding in project management, research skills and engagement techniques.

Alan is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing and the National Landlords Association
